IUI Cost in Gurgaon (2026): Full Breakdown with Medicines
Dr. Anshika Lekhi, MBBS, MS (Obstetrics & Gynecology), The Fertilife, Gurgaon
The number people quote for IUI is almost never the number they pay. Not because anybody is being dishonest, but because the procedure itself is the cheapest part of the cycle and the quote usually covers only that.
Here is the whole thing, line by line.
What You Are Actually Paying For
The procedure is a small share
Intrauterine insemination itself is quick. The sample is washed and prepared, and the prepared sperm is placed into the uterus through a fine catheter. Our published cost guide puts ovulation induction with IUI at roughly Rs 8,000 to Rs 20,000, with a wider range of Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 depending on what the cycle needs.
The cycle around it is the rest
Monitoring scans, bloods, the trigger injection and the medication to stimulate ovulation all sit outside that figure at most clinics. So the honest question to ask anybody quoting you is not what IUI costs, but what the quote excludes.
Before the Cycle Starts
Consultation and tests
An initial consultation runs about Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. Fertility testing comes next, typically Rs 3,000 to Rs 15,000 depending on how much is needed, and this stage is not optional.
IUI only works if at least one fallopian tube is open and the post-wash sperm count clears a usable threshold. Spending on a cycle before confirming both is how couples waste money.
Why tubal patency matters here
If both tubes are blocked, no amount of insemination will help, because the sperm and egg still have to meet in the tube. That finding moves you to IVF, and finding it out first saves you a cycle.
The Medication Question
This is the line that moves most and the one quotes are vaguest about.
A natural cycle with no stimulation costs you almost nothing in drugs but has the lowest success rate. Oral medication such as letrozole or clomiphene is inexpensive and makes ovulation more predictable. Injectable gonadotropins cost considerably more, give the best per-cycle odds, and bring a real multiple-pregnancy risk that needs monitoring.
Your dose depends on your own response, which is why nobody can give you an exact drug figure before your first scan. Ask for a range for your specific protocol rather than a blanket number, and ask what happens to the cost if your dose is increased mid-cycle.
Add the Repeats In
One cycle is the wrong unit
IUI is planned as a series. Three to six attempts is the usual window for suitable candidates, and beyond that the per-cycle odds stop improving.
So when you budget, multiply. A figure that looks comfortable once can look very different across four cycles, and knowing that at the start prevents the decision being made for you by money halfway through.
What changes between cycles
Monitoring and medication repeat each time. Your initial diagnostic workup usually does not, which means later cycles often cost a little less than the first.
Where IVF Enters the Conversation
If the post-wash count is low, if both tubes are blocked, or if three or four well-run cycles have not worked, continuing with IUI becomes the expensive option rather than the cheap one.
IVF costs more per attempt and carries a materially higher chance per attempt. There is a point where the arithmetic flips, and a clinic worth using will tell you when you have reached it rather than selling you a fifth cycle. The NHS guidance on fertility treatment sets out where each option sits.
What Nobody Itemises
The costs that sit outside the quote
Travel to the clinic for monitoring, which is five or six visits across a fortnight. Time off work for the scans and the insemination itself. A repeat semen analysis if the first was borderline.
None of these appear on a treatment quote and all of them are real. For couples travelling into Gurgaon from further out in the NCR, the travel and leave can rival the medication line.
And the cost of waiting
Worth naming, because it is the one nobody prices. Every month spent deciding is a month of declining reserve if you are over 35, and that shows up later as a more expensive treatment rather than a cheaper one.
Questions Worth Asking Before You Pay
Ask whether scans and the trigger are included or billed separately. Ask what your medication is likely to cost for your protocol. Ask what a repeat cycle costs. Ask whether there is an EMI option, which we offer, and ask for the billing in writing.
A clinic that answers all five without hesitating is telling you something useful about how it bills.
